Access control
system industry
descriptive terms:
In preface,
we
use the term as it is, a general term that is inclusive of many. However, we
don't list standard or traditional key locks or all locksmiths, per se (see
Locks: Access Control). What is access control?
You could say that it is anything that controls access, and possibly egress.
That could include a fence, barbed wire, razor ribbon, a trench, an alarm, a sign, a door,
and just about anything that functions like a control. However, while entries
here are varied, by necessity, the main entries in this heading have to do more
specifically with access control systems that most particularly are designed to allow, secure,
and control access and egress from a building or a facility, mostly
characterized by electronic/electric components. Card access systems, wireless
access systems,
keypad entries, access control for remote entry, telephone entry access systems, biometric
access controls, and the like.
Please see the listings and the parenthetical material and other material that
should more fully define what is offered by a particular source.

Ohio access
control system industry,
notes, briefs:
In Ohio, there is little to no state regulation of the access control system industry or its practices, and currently there is no state
license for providers. However, there are a multitude of codes that cover access
and, importantly, egress, as life safety issues come into play. For more on
licensing or regulation or practice, contact access control and security associations or
established professionals in the industry (see directory listings for reference). Regardless of all of this and always
as a rule of thumb, use due diligence, investigating sources before entering
into any agreements. See disclaimers.
